Privacy policy

Overview
TrueWatt ("the app") is an indoor cycling training app that connects to Bluetooth fitness devices to deliver structured ERG workouts. This policy explains what data the app collects, where it stays, and how it is used.
Data Collected and How It Is Used
Health and Fitness Data
The app records power output (watts), heart rate (bpm), cadence (rpm), and speed during workouts. This data is used solely to display real-time metrics, calculate workout summaries, and optionally save workouts to Apple Health.
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a workout file (TCX or CSV) using iOS's share sheet.
Apple Health Integration
With your permission, the app writes completed workout sessions, including power, heart rate, cadence, and active energy, to Apple Health. The app does not read from Apple Health. Permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → TrueWatt.
Bluetooth Device Data
The app scans for and connects to nearby Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) fitness devices: smart trainers (FTMS), cycling power meters (CPS), and heart rate monitors. Device identifiers are saved locally on your device only, so the app can reconnect automatically on future sessions. No device data is transmitted to any server.
App Settings and Preferences
Your FTP (Functional Threshold Power), power scale, countdown preferences, and other settings are stored locally using iOS's standard UserDefaults. They are not synced to any cloud service or shared with third parties.
Workout Files
Workouts imported from .zwo, .erg, or .fit files are stored locally in the app's Documents folder on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any account information.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not serve advertising.
- We do not track your location.
- We do not share any data with third parties.
Data Storage and Security
All data is stored locally on your device. Workout history and imported files are kept in the app's sandboxed container and are included in standard iOS device backups (iCloud or local). If you delete the app, all locally stored data is removed.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices
- Apple Health: Grant or revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete all data: Delete the app from your device. All locally stored data is removed.
- Export your data: Use the in-app TCX or CSV export to save your workout data to a file of your choosing.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here and the "Last updated" date will be revised. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
